Beth Cahill is the current president of the Student Government Association (SGA). A sophomore at Ball State University, she is a Public Relations major with a minor in Telecommunications. She also currently serves as the Activities Chair for Alpha Chi Omega.

In her two years at Ball State University, Beth Cahill has been a Hall Ambassador for Mysch/Hurst and the SGA Representative for Mysch/Hurst and Stuwest. She has also served as Campus Chair on SGA. She has been honored as the Outstanding New Member of Alpha Chi Omega and the Chair of the Year for SGA.

  • Calls and presides at all meetings of the Executive Cabinet and of Executive Officers.
  • Oversees the Treasurer in drawing up the proposed budget prior to the end of the academic year.
  • Acts as an ex-officio, non-voting member of all executive commissions, Student Senate, and ad-hoc committees.
  • Establishes executive commissions for research into various areas of concern.
  • Appoints all Secretaries of the Executive Cabinet.
  • Appoints board chairs with the approval of Student Senate except where otherwise noted in the Bylaws.
  • Provides a channel of communication between the administration, faculty, Student Government Association, and student body.
  • Issues orders to and require reports from Executive Officers and Secretaries in pursuance of the executive function.
  • Makes recommendations to Student Senate and transmit reports from the Executive Branch to Student Senate.
  • Has the power to sign Student Senate legislation, thereby making it effective or veto the legislation, thereby sending it back to Student Senate.
  • Executes all legislation of Student Senate that he/she has signed, or that he/she has vetoed and Student Senate has overridden by a two-thirds (2/3) majority vote, or that has become effective due to a lack of his/her signature.
  • Appoints the appropriate number of students as stated in the Constitution of the University Senate to the Campus Council following the spring elections of the Student Government Association, before or on the University Senate's final meeting in the spring.
  • Is a member of the University Senate Governance Committee.
