University Senate
University Senate is the governing body of the university. It meets on the 1st Thursday of the month @ 4pm in LB125. It consists of 60 faculty, staff and administrators as well as 10 students. Issues affecting campus, including most SGA legislation, must pass through University Senate before being sent to the President and/or Board of Trustees for approval and/or implementation.

Also under University Senate are 3 councils and 31 committees, many of which students can sit on. Some of these councils and committees only meet once a month or once a semester, depending on the issues going through the governance system. Student representation is important because crucial work that has significant impact on campus occurs during these meetings.
