Student Senate Senator
Senate meets every Wednesday at 3:15 in Cardinal Hall B in the Student Center. Being a Senator allows you to work with other Senators in Caucuses and Committees to bring a bigger vision and brighter future to the Ball State campus.

There are 4 different types of Caucuses Senators can join:
• On-Campus (16 seats), who are elected by their Hall Councils and represent On-Campus students;
• Off-Campus (17 seats), who represent off campus students and must live off-campus and receive 50 signatures and get voted into Senate by the Senators;
• Organizational (10 seats), who are elected by their Organization and represent that Organization's interests. Organizations in the Organizational Caucus include: Spectrum, Asian-American Student Association, Latino Student Union, Black Student Association, Disabled Students in Action, Interfraternal Council, Panhellenic Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council, Today's Black Women, Student Voluntary Services.
• At-Large (18 seats - 6 for Freshmen, 2 for Graduate), who serve the entire campus and must receive 50 signatures and get voted into Senate by the Senators.

Once accepted into Senate, a Senator selects a Standing Committee to work on. Those include:
• Governmental Affairs
• Community & Environmental Affairs
• Academic Affairs
• Student Safety
• Student Services
• Diversity & Multi-Cultural Affairs

Senators may also serve on Independent Committees, which include:
• Agenda
• Rules and Constitution
• Finance
• Co-Sponsorship

Attendance is mandatory for all voting members of the Senate. Two (2) unexcused absences will result in automatic dismissal from Senate. Special circumstances will be handled by the Secretary. Two (2) Proxies are allowed per semester.

When applying, you must:
• Fill out and turn in the Student Senate Application
• Fill out and turn in the Transcript Release Form
• Fill out and turn in Signatures (50) - only for Off-Campus and At-Large Caucuses
• Be recommended for approval by Credentials Board
• Approval shall take place upon 1/2 vote of the Student Senate.
